George Walker Scholarship Fund
Airport founder George Walker began his aviation career as a mechanic and an instructor at the fabled Casey Jones School of Aeronautics teaching a generation of aeronautical technicians. After Mr. Walker's passing, his family wanted to continue his tradition of mentorship of young people who caught the "aviation bug".
After founding Somerset Airport, Mr. Walker took countless young men and women "under his wing" giving them their first job in aviation. Those young men and women went on to fly everything from the F-15E to the C-17 in every conflict from Vietnam to Iraq.
They went on to Captain everything from commuter aircraft to Boeing 747s for virtually every major airline.
Others went on be community leaders with a continuing love for the sky.
A scholarship is offered annually at Bernardsville High School to the deserving senior who pursues further education in aviation. This includes aircraft maintenance, air traffic control, aerospace engineering, aviation business and aircraft operations.
Please contact Somerset Air Service at 908-722-2444 for more information or you may fill out one of the forms below.
